This is a basic each-person-adds-to-the-story-one-post-at-a-time but with a time travel twist.

This story is being told out of order.

So what you do is number your contribution to the story with a number from 1 to 100. This number indicates it's order in the final story.

As more parts are added, the challenge will be to maintain consistency. I think maintaining a coherent story should be secondary, or maybe even tertiary.

62. But despite everything he did, the mutant teddy bears continued to gain on him.

55. Bill looked hard, into the eyes of Algospurth, their faces only a few inches apart. He couldn't believe what he was about to do.

19. "Stop it!" Bill shouted at the stranger, "I've heard enough, get out of my bar!"

100. And he wondered if it was really worth it.

67. "But Bill," Algospurth laughed, "You are one of us!"
Bill recoiled in shock.
No! Could it be? Could I really be one of them?
His resolved waivered and his gun trembled. Algospurth took advantage of his enemy's momentary lapse of concentration and lunged for the button and pressed it. Before Bill could react, the claw opened and Jessica plunged into the abyss.

22. After a night of boozing and chasing skirts, Bill felt as though the midgets in his head were wrestling in a steel cage match of epic proportions. So, as any responsible waste management engineer would do, he took a shot of whiskey and got off the couch to embrace the crack of 11:30.

21. Bill looked around at the pile of rubble that was his bar and shook his head in despair.
"I should have bought that insurance policy," he muttered sadly to himself. Now the only thing to do was to take that job at the Waste Management plant, despite how much that prospect disgusted him.
Bill left the remains of his bar behind and walked aimlessly down the street, hoping he would feel better in the morning.

80. As the ship moved listlessly along its course, the crew could not help but question, ""Does the captain really know what he's doing?"

48. The sickening truth hit Bill like a ton of bricks. These were no ordinary teddy bears. These were mutant teddy bears!
